The Supper Club’s Luxe Guide to Art Basel Miami

Pauline L'Herbette

Another Art Basel Miami is done and dusted. This year, The Supper Club had the pleasure of hosting three events during the annual celebration. With Maestro DOBEL’s Legacy Series dinner party at the Faena Miami Beach Hotel, an Artists Brunch at 27 Restaurant at the Freehand Hotel, and a private tour of The Wynwood Murals, The Supper Club offered plenty of fabulous revelry for our members.

Even savvy globetrotters who flock to Miami during the first week of December each year can be surprised to learn how difficult it is to map out the ultimate Art Basel itinerary. However, our skilled event planners at The Supper Club know how to take Miami in style. Wondering how we do it? Here’s where we went and the inside info on how to tackle Art Basel Miami like a party pro.

Step One: Lock in a lavish secret dinner

The Supper Club unearthed two secret magical parts of the luxurious Faena Hotel Miami that are known only by the chosen few. Guests were welcomed into El Secreto, an Art Deco inspired bar, and subsequently led to La Cava—an exquisite, intimate dining room. With crystal chandeliers and candles, elegant black and white minimalist decor and endless dark wood, La Cava was the perfect back drop for an exclusive experience attended by a fashionable and impressive crowd.

A tasting of Maestro DOBEL’s smooth, upscale tequila was served with guests indulging in signature Black Diamond Margaritas and Maestro DOBEL Añejo and Diamante Tequila served neat. A decadent three-course menu featured intense flavors—burrata, wild king prawn, potato gnocchi with wild mushrooms and Wagyu NY strip steak. To top off the evening, diners had a choice of chocolate cake or dulce de leche flan. It was a culinary experience to remember.

During the evening, curator Pedro Alonso spoke to guests about Mexican art and the intersection of all aspects of creativity: art, design, murals, architecture, cuisine, poetry, writing and film. Palettes were entertained and minds were stimulated. As the clock struck midnight, guests glided off into the night.

Step Two: Discover an unknown art experience

Finding a unique experience within the Miami art scene is crucial. The day after our dinner party, Pedro Alonso delighted 30 VIP guests with an educational tour of The Wynwood Murals. Guests were able to tap into Pedro Alonso’s talent for storytelling and partook in a truly unique look at murals, Mexican culture and the art world.

Step Three: Wrap up the weekend with a fabulous brunch

Ending the weekend with a fabulous brunch is a must. This year, The Supper Club invited Miami members, global guests and esteemed ambassadors to the annual Artist’s Brunch honoring the explosive talent of Stephen Bliss.

Hosted at Broken Shaker, above 27 Restaurant at the Freehand Hotel, guests gathered in a vibrant setting for delicious cocktails by Cointreau, champagne by Nicolas Feuillatte and rosé by AIX. There was no shortage of libations, thus, the ambiance was lively and festive. Thanks to the warm lighting, candles and flowers, guests had the perfect escape from the rainy Art Basel day. Brunch featured familiar and delectable Mediterranean favorites, with a full menu of outstanding dishes from hummus, tabbouleh and falafel to French toast and shakshouka. As the brunch came to a close, the skies cleared and guests were ready to devour more art in the Miami sunshine.

In the giving spirit of the holiday season, this year’s annual Artist’s Brunch was presented by Beyond Capital. Beyond Capital is an impact investment fund that invests in seed-stage, for-profit social enterprises serving impoverished communities throughout India and East Africa. Their investments have positively changed the lives of millions – funding companies that empower, support, and give freedom. In her brief speech to the group in attendance, Beyond Capital’s CEO – Eva Yazhari – welcomed all to join Beyond Capital’s noble mission, by contributing to their current raise, which we proudly support. “Giving is addictive,” – proclaimed one attending guest – and The Supper Club could not agree more.
