Harvest Wine Weekend Escape: Day 1

There was no better time to set off on a wine weekend adventure than during mid-harvest season, where members sipped, unwin(e)ded and witnessed firsthand how beautiful wines are made. The annual Harvest Wine Weekend Getaway kicked off cabana side at the newly renovated Louis M. Martini Winery.
Upon arrival, guests were guided through the perfectly manicured Martini Park to discover their very own private cabana with an extraordinary wine paired family style multi-course feast prepared by award-winning Executive Chef, Jeffery Russell awaiting. With glasses of crisp 2018 Rosé Cabernet Sauvignon in hand, we were enchanted by the storytelling of Louis M. Martini’s beautiful history and the fruits of their labor. We are still swooning over The 2015 Cellar No. 254 Meritage paired with the Chef’s freshly baked poached pear galette, topped with brown sugar chantilly.
As the sun set over the valley, members slowly made their way up to the city of Calistoga for a special vintner dinner experience at Tamber Bey Vineyards. Upon arrival at the 22-acre Sundance Ranch, members and their guests were welcomed by none other than Vintner Barry Waitte and wife, Jennifer Waitte. The evening began with a glass of their delectable 2017 Sauvignon Blanc paired to perfection with the most delicious, fresh mozzarella ever had, handmade on the spot by the Chef, followed by a tour of the property and of course, a visit to one of their beloved resident horses.
With candles flickering against the moonlight and friendly kittens roamed the picturesque property on this cool, wine country evening, a four-course seated dinner expertly paired with one of Tamber Bey’s exquisite, limited-production wines, awaited in the breezeway of the barn designed by renowned architect Howard Back. Glasses were raised high as host, Barry Waitte won over our hearts with the winery’s story and our palettes with his timeless wines. Cheers!
