A French Friendsgiving Supper at One65

As the fog slowly rolled in over San Francisco on quintessential evening in the fall, members made their way to the top floor of One65, known to most, if not all, as the city’s French culinary embassy. Once the elevator doors opened to O', One65's private fine dining level, guests discovered an intimate cocktail reception awaiting inside the culinary haven. Delicious canapés such as a crispy onion tart and red beet gazpacho danced around the room as guests raised a toast with handcrafted Cointreau cocktails and Oceano Wines’ 2017 Chardonnay in hand. After a few sips of libations such as the 'Cointr-O’ Collins' and ‘On The Plymouth Rocks’ were enjoyed, guests were slowly ushered to the Cherrywood private dining room, where a multi-course seafood-inspired supper would be soon unveiled against flickering tea lights and soft French tunes.
As Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-winning Chef Claude Le Tohic put the finishing touches on his exquisite creations, Oceano Wines’ Founder, Rachel Martin, accompanied by Winemaker, Marbue Marke, welcomed the crowd and dazzled them with Oceano’s story, diving into the wonderful wines featured. As guests savored the first few sips of 2018 Chardonnay, an amuse bouche made its way to the table. With its burst of brightness, the pomegranate gazpacho with a marmalade of charcoal roasted beets was the perfect palette opener, followed by a stunning seafood salad, featuring scallops, uni and shellfish with a lovely dashi gelée to complement. As guests indulged and gushed over Oceano’s 2018 Pinot Noir, a mouthwatering caramelized black cod with lemongrass oil with cauliflower and seaweed butter made its way to the table. As we raised one final toast to a perfect fall evening amongst amazing folks, guests enjoyed an exotic fruit dessert, consisting of silky coconut milk, rum emulsion, frozen pineapple and passion fruit.
